2011 NBA MVP

2011 NBA MVP
Dwight Howard: While many posts have been used to argue whether LeBron James or Derrick Rose should be MVP, we have both come to the conclusion that the rightful owner of the award is Dwight Howard. He is by far the best defensive player in the NBA as he led the Magic to the third best defensive efficiency rating in the league. He did this while not having one other real defensive stopper on the whole roster. Pretty impressive. If that is not enough, he has finally taken the jump we have all been waiting for offensively and added more post moves to his arsenal as well as a little jumper off glass. This new offensive variety has allowed him to keep his true shooting percentage above 60% while posting a career high in usage rate. This is not the same 'Superman' that could only muster 15.4 ppg on .488 shooting against the Lakers in 2009 finals. The extra moves he has learned this year has allowed him in the two games this year against the Lakers to average 26.5 and 14 while shooting .700. While there may be more sexy choices for MVP as all other candidates are more flashy and better offensively, none add as much to their team as Howard does.
